Curt Valmy

Curt Valmy, Chief Communicator for OM-Tech Learning, draws upon his varied and extensive background in communication, education and sales to create and deliver dynamic learning opportunities. He encourages participants to acquire and apply their knowledge and skills immediately, continuously and effectively to produce intended results in their work and lives. Curt is globally acknowledged as a leading expert in developing trainers, and for coaching them to attain the CompTIA CTT+ certification.

Curt began to focus his skills on trainer development while running three Microsoft Certified Technical Education Centers (CTECs) in the NYC area in the mid-1990s. Being responsible for sales, operations, customer service and business development, he obtained a broad perspective of what he calls “the training continuum.” He was also in charge of the trainer division, which included the assessing, hiring and cultivating of contract and staff trainers. He holds MCT and CTT+ Certifications.

In 2001 OM-Tech Learning became a Cornerstone member of the CompTIA CTT+ Advisory Committee, and since 2003 Curt has served as the Chair of the committee. He contributed to the re-configuring of the CompTIA instructor domains, which are the foundation for the CompTIA CTT+ certification objectives, and he proposed and was instrumental in the addition of the new CompTIA CTT+ Virtual Trainer certification. Nominated for Volunteer of the Year in 2004, Curt and his company, OM-Tech Learning, received the prestigious CompTIA Learning Alliance Award for Excellence in Educational Services in 2008.

He has been a regular speaker at conferences produced by ASTD, the eLearning Guild, CompTIA and Neilsen Publishing’s Training Magazine. He has presented numerous sessions and was a keynote speaker at Microsoft’s MCT Summits and TechEds in Prague, Redmond, Berlin and the UK, the MCT Virtual Summits, and the Microsoft Learning 3^rd Thursday professional development online series.

Curt brings his breadth of experience to provide relevance in each class that he facilitates. He has an extensive background in communication and development, on the personal and organizational levels. He was a certified coach and practitioner of the Insights Discovery^© series of products and services, as well as a business consultant to commercial and corporate training centers. For over fifteen years Curt has been actively involved in the study and application of personal and organizational transformation and effectiveness. He has contributed as a student, coach, mentor, and leader to many team-based projects and initiatives, and devotes time and expertise to community & international organizations.

What Kind of Instructor/Trainer Are You?

Do your students leave your training sessions smiling and full of energy and enthusiasm, or do they quietly sneak out at the end of the session, avoiding eye contact?

The Certified Trainer Workshop is a three-day, classroom-based training program designed to improve your classroom and planning skills and prepare you to pass both of the exams for the respected CompTIA Certified Trainer (CTT+) designation. You’ll understand the underlying concepts, apply them immediately, and record a passable 20’ training module during class to submit for the video portion of the exam.

OM-Tech’s Certified Trainer Workshop will empower you to become excellent and engaging; and  from there we believe certification is the natural by-product. Our students are varied: from SMEs looking to make an entry into the training field to capable, experienced instructors who already have many of the skills needed to pass the CompTIA CTT+ exams.

• Is a vehicle to streamline the CTT+ exam process for our instructor/students

CompTIA's Certfied Trainer (CTT+) Certification

CompTIA Certified Trainer (CTT+) is an international, vendor-neutral certification that covers core instructor skills, including preparation, presentation, communication, facilitation and evaluation in both a classroom and virtual classroom environment. Adobe, Dell, Microsoft, Novell and Ricoh recommend that their trainers be CompTIA CTT+ certified. The Training Associates also look for CompTIA CTT+ certification when hiring trainers.

All candidates must take the CompTIA CTT+ Essentials exam, and at least one of the two designations: Classroom Trainer or Virtual Classroom Trainer. Candidates will need to supply a video or recording of their classroom or virtual classroom sessions.

CompTIA CTT+ Examination: An Overview

The CTT+ certificate is a cross-industry credential providing recognition that an instructor has attained a standard of excellence in the training industry. The examinations are based on a set of objectives designed to measure the core knowledge and skills that competent instructors must demonstrate to complete an instructional assignment successfully both in a classroom and a virtual classroom environment.

This cross-industry certification is available to all training professionals. The CTT+ Program was created to eliminate redundancies among various instructor certification programs in computer training and education.

While it is significant that the computer industry is the first to endorse the CTT+ Program, the wider impact is that the certification can be applied to all industries that provide technical training, non-technical training and education.

To earn the CTT+ designation, candidate must pass both a computer-based test (CTT+ Essentials TK0-201) that assesses knowledge and a Performance Based exam (TK0-202 or TK0-203) in which the candidate demonstrates prescribed skills.
